Welcome to Podium On-Demand! I would like to take this opportunity to explain our mission and how to navigate our new online membership site. We are here to help and would like to be available and accessible to each and every dancer, no matter the age or the level. We would like to help beginners with their technique, growing dancers with their posture and mobility, and older dancers with their strength and stamina. Whatever it is that you may need help with to improve your dancing, we would like to be here to guide you.
Podium Strength is a very well-rounded program. We incorporate elements of strength training, Pilates, basic dance technique (from classical ballet), yoga, and high intensity interval training into our program. We also have conversations about rest and recovery, basic sports nutrition, preventing injuries, and performance and mindset.
Our exercises and workouts are now being put online so that you may do them at home when you have time in your busy schedules. Podium on-demand is currently made up of two different areas – the Exercise Library and the Workout Library.
The Exercise Library is an extensive collection of individual exercises that we commonly use categorized by training focus. For each exercise, you will see a short video, a detailed description of the correct form and technique, and a recommended number of sets and repetitions. You may pick and choose various exercises from this library to combine to create your own workout with the focus that you need.
The Workout Library combines the exercises from the Exercise Library into full length workouts that you can follow at home. These workouts are short and effective because we believe that your priority should remain dance and that most of your time should be spent in the dance studio with your teachers. The Podium workouts are titled according to training focus, such as “Turnout & Toe Height, or Strength & Stamina”, so that you may choose what it is that you would like to improve.
Both libraries will continue to grow as we will consistently add more exercises and workouts in the days, weeks, months and years to come. We are also open to input! Don’t see a video that focuses on exactly what you need? Let us know and we will do our best to make it happen! Not sure how to put the exercises together for the most effective training? We are also excited to offer our very own Podium 12-week Oireachtas Training Plan. We will be scheduling our workouts on a calendar to provide guidance on how to effectively organize your fitness training for the three months leading up to the big day.
Finally, as a dance mom and a former Open Champion, I know how much money we spend on Irish dancing…. the classes, the dresses, the travel to competitions, the workouts, etc. So, my goal is to make the Podium training program as affordable as possible. We want you to be a part of our community. We want you to enjoy your training. And we want to see the smile on your face when you reach your goals! Always remember to be consistent, be patient, and enjoy the journey.
