What would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail? The fear of failure is one of the biggest obstacles to reaching your goals. There is also the fear of not being good enough, the fear of change, the fear of uncertainty, and the fear of being uncomfortable. It is absolutely okay to have all of these fears. It is not okay to let them get in the way of your goals and dreams.
Are you going to be good enough every single time? Probably not. Are you going to fail? Most likely. Are you going to be uncomfortable? Absolutely. There will be discomfort. There will be change. There will be uncertainty and failure. BUT, it is your attitude and the way that you handle these setbacks that makes all the difference. Dust yourself off and go again. Keep your chin up.
Here are a couple of tips that have helped me to keep my motivation in times of doubt…
1. Remember why you started.
2. Write down your goals.
3. Share them with family and friends.
4. Make a plan.
5. Take a small action, then another, then another.
6. Be accountable.
7. Surround yourself with support.
8. Ask for help.
9. Tell yourself that you CAN.
10. Picture your success.
Remember that reaching your goals may take longer than you would like. And it also may take a lot more work that you would expect. Nobody said it was easy. But it will be worth it. Champions are not the ones who never fail. They are the ones who never quit. So don’t quit. And remember to have fun along the way!
